Easy healthy juice recipes
Dear reader! In my previous post, I introduced two of our family’s favorite raw juice recipes. And today I want to share with you more!
After all, sharing is caring. Every recipe I share, I taste proofed myself.
If you are looking for delicious juice ideas, keep reading!
I remember years ago, as I was browsing through my local supermarket, I noticed small expensive bottles ( more like shot glasses ). I got curious about what could they possibly be and was surprised to see “ginger shot” on the label.
At that time I was already using ginger to make tea or hot “sore throat” remedy, but “ginger juice” was completely uncharted territory for me.
It didn’t stop me from checking the internet for a recipe and I found one that we use ( almost ) every morning!
Just take 1 peeled and quartered lemon,
2 in ( 5 cm ) fresh ginger, peeled and cut into chunks.
Press alternate chunks through a juicer. For extra morning kick, I add a pinch of cayenne pepper. I drink this juice thirst thing in the morning. Usually, I make several servings of ginger juice and just keep in my fridge.
Ginger not only will help you to fight infection but also can help to prevent infections.
In other words, ginger ROCKS!
Let me introduce you to the juice that changed my daily intake of veggies.
If you read my previous posts, you know about “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” documentary I watched on Netflix a couple of years ago! This documentary made me consider ( and later on go through with) juice fast as a way to reboot and clean my body!
To make green juice you will need:
celery, cucumber, apples, ginger, lemon and dark green leaves ( can be spinach, kale, romaine lettuce, swiss chard ).
With this juice, I never follow instructions.
If I want my juice to be extra green, I use more leaves.
If I want sweetness, I use extra apples.
When I want to make my juice more “watery”, I add extra cucumber.
Variations could be limitless, just go with the flow
Dear reader. You must agree with me, that these days we hear the word “detox” or “cleanse” almost every day! So many companies offer a variety of detox drinks (tea, juice, even coffee!). An easier way to cleanse your body is through the right foods and drinks. Mainly eating and/or drinking veggies and fruits.
I believe that the best way to detoxify our bodies is to eliminate all the junk food and drinks and replace them with the right food, nutritious food full of vegetables and fruits!
And, to be honest, the juice is quite handy. Because let’s face it, we, as human species, are always busy with all sorts of things that we need (or don’t need ) to do. And sometimes we don’t have time for a proper nutritious meal.
I’m not a “complete health nut”
I occasionally order takeout from our local pizza place (who doesn’t love pizza?). And I enjoy an occasional burger with fries. But at the same time, I know how important glass of “detox” miracle is for my body. I try to have at least one glass of delicious and nutritious juice per day!
And if you want to help your body to work more efficiently, here are some of my favorite “detox” drink recipes:
Juice 4 apples, 1 lemon, and 2 limes, stir and drink on an empty stomach first thing in the morning!
3 small beetroot, 1 grapefruit, 2 limes, juice and help your body to eliminate waste ( limes have an alkalizing effect), more effectively flush toxic compounds out of your body ( thanks to phytochemicals found in grapefruit) and purify blood and cleanse colon ( beetroot).
4 large carrots, 2 lemons, and 1 tbsp flaxseed oil will help to kickstart a sluggish digestive system (drink this juice on an empty stomach).
If your morning is busy and juicing will take too much time, prepare your juice in advance and keep it in your fridge. I always make extra juice, because as much as I love making juice, I hate cleaning my juicer.
Boost my energy levels
As a ( fairly ) new momma, I am often tired. Last time I had proper night sleep was almost 10 months ago. And I understand that’s part of the job description, but who said I can’t try and find a way to boost my energy levels?
And I do it by drinking… you are not going to believe this…miracle drink.
I have two favorites “energy boosting” recipes!
3 small beetroot, a handful of spinach, 1/2 pumpkin, juice everything together and enjoy!
Beetroot, including tops, is full of iron and has traditionally been used as a remedy for fatigue and anemia. An important component of the blood, iron is crucial for energy production! Pumpkin contains malic acid, which boosts iron absorption!
If you, my dear reader, prefer something sweeter, than you will absolutely need to try to:
juice 2 oranges, 3 kiwi fruits, and 300g/10oz spinach leaves!
One glass of this energizing OJ drink provides nearly 3 times our daily vitamin C requirement! A lack of iron can lead to lethargy and depression, and it is one of the most common mineral deficiencies in the world! This juice notches up iron absorption. It also boosts the level of folic acid in the body, which is necessary for the production of red blood cells to restore energy to optimum levels!
Sharing is caring!
Here I am, chilling on my sofa.
The little bear is asleep ( finally ).
And now I can tell you, my dear reader, that no matter who you are or where you are from, you (like everyone else, like me) want to be happy!
And I am sure that, if you are healthy, you are halfway there!
Just remember, that being healthy should not be a destination, but your life’s journey! Enjoy your journey!
