Today I will channel my inner Mel Robbins. If you don’t know who she is, you should change that immediately! What can be more inspiring to make the first step towards better you, then a person who walked that walk?

This blog is here for you to read, partially thanks to Mel Robbins. I saw her TED talk video and realized, I want to do what I do now. And that is, show people that change is simple (not easy). How can I do it?

I will lead you by my own example!

Besides, who wants to learn ways to change life from someone, who is still stuck in an unhappy and unhealthy body?

A healthy body starts with a healthy mind

I truly believe this statement and every day do as much as possible to make my mind healthy. Let me explain what having a healthy mind will mean to you. 

A healthy mind will allow you to reach your full potential in every aspect of your lifeA healthy mind will help you to make the right decisions for you and your family. Deep down we know, that our lifestyle affects people close to us. But that knowledge alone is not a big enough reason to make the right choices. Something makes you choose an easy way out. What might that be?

Could it be that you are used doing only things that are easy? By the way, I do not judge you. I know how it feels to choose a path, that is easy to follow. I spent five years in a boring job while dreaming about a different life. 

Who doesn’t want to have a simple life that fulfills all their dreams? 

The problem is, you have to work hard for your dreams to come true. And hard work starts with your mindset. You want to achieve something then you need to set goals. Start with setting a big goal, for example: “I want to lose 30lbs (or 50lbs, or even 100lbs).” Next, you need to set a time frame ( for instance, one year) and divide your big goal into small ones (make your small goal realistically achievable). Last, but not least, enjoy your hard work. When you know, that you work to improve your life, you should enjoy every second of every day. 

I want to warn you first! Changing your mindset will be difficult because your mind wants to protect you from a pain that comes with change. You can learn to control your mind using incredible tool that Mel Robbins calls “The 5 second rule”.

The 5 second rule and how to use it

Why 5 seconds? When you decide to start something challenging, it takes only 5 seconds for your brain to convince you not to do that. 

I have one personal example. Last summer I was walking down the street, and I saw a girl walking toward me. Truthfully I noticed her shoes first, shoes I wanted to buy for myself and was looking everywhere. My first reaction was to ask here where I could buy shoes like that. Nothing too complicated, right? As that girl was coming closer, my head started created all that doubt. And I believed every single thought. Because who asks a stranger about their shoes? Crazy people, that’s who. And that’s why as we passed each other I said nothing. Months later as I discovered the 5 second rule, I realized, my mind tricked me into believing the worst. And, yes, those shoes were so amazing, I am still thinking about them with a feeling of sorrow.

How to use the 5 second rule

It is unbelievable easy to use the 5 second rule in everyday life. Every time you are ready to step into a difficult situation, and you feel your mind sending you a no go signals, count 5-4-3-2-1 and do it anyway.

It doesn’t matter if you count in your head or aloud. What matters, once you reach 1, you should not hesitate. Just act!

You can use this tool every time you make decisions at work, at home, to improve relationships and even when you chose to eat healthily and change your lifestyle altogether.

Healthy you – healthy family

As a mother and a wife, I know how important it is to understand nutrition and to use my knowledge every day. As parents, we have to teach our kids the right way to eat! I want my son to understand what food is necessary for his health and what food is no food at all. I want to be healthy and fit because my son will learn from me what it takes to be healthy and fit. 

My mom is obese, and she was always on a heavy side When I research health-based topics, I think about her and the way I can teach her to change her life, even though she is 59 years old. And I believe that the best way for me to show, that change is possible, is to change myself. Overall, healthy you – healthy family.
